We are absolutely thrilled to be announcing our partnership with Sydney Cricket Club Women’s team supporting the club through different programs that will assist young indigenous and non-indigenous players coming up in the sport.

The Sydney Cricket Club’s women have a proud history with several past and current international and first-class players including Belinda Clark, Ellyse Perry, Rachael Haynes and Alyssa Healy.

Sydney Cricket Club has an academy and their vision is to develop a sustainable and long-term girls cricket academy that will serve as a model for all associations partnering with Premier Grade clubs and building capacity to ensure the ongoing success of female cricket in the region. Attracting and inspiring new talent to further sharpen their game skills through learning with emerging coaches and nurturing the culture is part of the vision.

With a culture of inclusion, Sydney Cricket Club aims to create a welcoming environment for girls to play and enjoy their cricket. The academy presents itself as a safe place to explore ways girls can develop their cricket skills in a positive environment encouraging feedback and reinforcement. In addition, the girls will see behaviors and attitudes modeled that will help them develop from junior cricketers to upstanding young adults both on the field and in the community.

To inspire the next generation, Sydney Cricket Club had patrons like Alyssa Healy and Rachael Haynes in previous years, they have made an impact on the younger plays training at Sydney Cricket Club by offering advice, sharing their inspiring stories, and leading training sessions occasionally.

The IWHJCA and C&WSCA, leading girls cricket representatives in the region, have formed and entered combined teams in the Cricket NSW Youth Championship programs with the continued support of Sydney Women’s Cricket Club. The Youth Championships are aimed at girls who have the skills to compete at a higher level.

With the support of SCC and the partnership of both associations, the academy programme will be able to grow and reach our goal of doubling the number of girls playing representative-level cricket in the region.

The importance of Sydney Cricket club supporting is a key plank for those girls who have elite skills linking them with future Premier Grade clubs to continue their development as they progress from Junior Level cricket to senior programs. This will provide a true progression pathway for emerging talent in cricket.
